Ist Helium 10 Chrome Extension
a Must-Have for Amazon Sellers?
A step-by-step Helium 10 Chrome Extension tutorial covering setup, product validation, market-fit analysis, and PPC tips.
Helium 10 Pricing
Trusted by 4.5M+ Amazon, Walmart, and TikTok Shop sellers — it’s not the cheapest tool, but the breadth of what’s bundled in is why we keep it in our own stack.
| Plan | Bester Umsatzbereich | Main Difference |
|---|---|---|
| Free $0 | Pre-launch | Test the Chrome Extension before committing |
| Platin $129/Monat | $0–$100K/yr | Full Chrome Extension, product & keyword research, basic profit tracking |
| Diamant $359/Monat | $100K–$10M/yr | Adds Helium 10 Ads, automation, inventory tools, and team access |
| Unternehmen Ab $1.499/Monat | $10M+/yr | Dedicated support, expanded limits, built for agencies and large teams |
The free plan is enough to test the Chrome Extension, but not enough to rely on it for serious Amazon product research. Most sellers start on Platinum. Diamond is the better fit once you’re scaling PPC and managing multiple SKUs.

The extension is free to install, and a free Helium 10 account comes with a limited number of daily X-Ray pulls — enough to get a real feel for it before deciding whether to upgrade. Here’s the setup, start to finish:
Create or log into your Helium 10 account.
Create your free Helium 10 account here.
Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Download the Helium 10 Chrome Extension here, then pin it to your toolbar so it’s accessible.
Navigate to any Amazon search results page or product listing.
Click the Helium 10 icon. The X-Ray panel opens directly on the page — no separate dashboard needed.
Run your first pull and get familiar with the Chrome Extension’s KPIs.
Focus on Search Volume, Parent Revenue, Price, Review Count and Rating, and Fulfillment Type.
The DOPE Framework — How We Validate a Product
Pulling X-Ray data is easy. Knowing what to do with it is the actual skill. After years of product research calls, we settled on a simple four-part framework we run every opportunity through before we invest a dime in product sourcing. We call it DOPE.
D — Establish Demand
Search for your desired product and find similar competitor products and how much revenue they generate.
Look at the top 46 organic results — combined they generate $10,208,925 in monthly market revenue.

Filter out the noise first: before reading revenue numbers, check the “Hide sponsored products from results” box in the X-Ray filter panel. Sponsored placements skew the competitive picture — you want to see who’s actually winning organically, not who’s paying to be there.

The “Hide sponsored products from results” filter — sits at the bottom of the Filters panel.
In addition to competitor revenue, look at the keyword search volume and find out demand lifetime and month over month. You’ll be able to figure out if the product is affected by seasonality along with the same demand on Walmart and Google Trends.

“weighted vest” 5-year Amazon search volume — note the steady climb, not a flat or declining trend.
Part 2 — Find What’s Actually Driving Those Sales
Once you know a niche is worth $10M+ in combined revenue, the natural next question is: which keywords are actually responsible for that? That’s a separate feature inside the extension called X-Ray Keywords — distinct from the main X-Ray panel, powered by Helium 10’s Cerebro engine under the hood.

Where to Find It
Click the extension icon and you’ll see four tools listed: X-Ray (Amazon Product Research), X-Ray Keywords, Review Insights, and Category Reviews & Returns. X-Ray Keywords pulls high search volume keywords that drive the revenue for a selected or multiple products — merging both high search volume keywords and where each competitor ranks.
Run it on the same “weighted vest” search and here’s what comes back — 200 filtered keywords, ranked by relevance to the top-ranking competitors:

The Columns That Actually Matter Here
- Keyword Sales — how many sales this specific term is driving across competitors. This is the real demand signal, not just search volume
- Competing Products — how many listings are already targeting this term. Low competing products + decent keyword sales is the sweet spot
- Title Density — how many top competitors have this exact phrase in their title. Low density on a high-sales keyword is a gap worth exploiting
- Suggested PPC Bid — take this with a grain of salt, but nice initiative from Helium 10.
O, P, E — Offer, Profit, Enhance
Establish Offer
Identify your closest competitors and their price point. Are you launching a premium product similar to MVRK Weighted Vest ($139.99), or a more competitive price point targeting a different segment? This decision shapes everything — sourcing cost, FBA fee and who you’re actually competing against on day one.
Establish Profit
Based on your Offer and closest competitor, figure out your FBA fees at that price point. Run it through our FBA calculator — if the margin doesn’t work at the price the market supports, the opportunity dies here before it costs you anything.
Establish Enhance
This is the step most people skip, and it’s the one that actually separates winners from me-too products. Use the Review Insights panel inside the extension to see what customers across the category are consistently complaining about. That complaint is your opportunity to add value to the market — not just copy what’s already there, but fix the thing everyone else ignored.
Where people get this wrong: most new sellers stop at Demand. They see a big revenue number and jump straight to sourcing. Skipping Offer and Profit is how people end up with inventory that technically sells but barely breaks even after fees, PPC, and returns.
The Most Important Metrics in the Chrome Extension
X-Ray returns a lot of columns. In practice, we ignore most of them and focus on a short list that actually drives a go/no-go decision. Here’s what we look at, in the order we look at it:
| Metrisch | Why It Matters | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Price Data | Sets your ceiling and floor for the Offer step of DOPE — shows what the market will actually pay. | Must Check |
| Parent Sales & Revenue | The total demand signal across all variations of a listing combined. This is your real market-size number. | Must Check |
| Child Sales & Revenue | Tells you which specific variation (color, size, pack count) is doing the heavy lifting — critical for advertising decisions later. | Must Check |
| Review Count & Rating | A high review count is a moat. A low rating on a high-revenue listing is an opening — that’s an Enhance opportunity. | Must Check |
| Review Velocity | How fast reviews are accumulating relative to sales. This is a huge ranking factor but never risk your account to get reviews illegitimately. | Good to Check |
| Vendor / Seller Competition | Tells you whether you’re up against Amazon Vendor accounts (harder to outcompete on price) or independent third-party sellers. | Good to Check |
| Seller Country | A category dominated by a single overseas seller cluster often signals thin margins and aggressive pricing — worth knowing before you compete on price alone. | Good to Check |
| Listing Age / Launch Date | A category full of very recent listings can mean a trend that’s still rising — or one that’s already saturating fast. Context matters here. | Good to Check |
Practitioner note: none of these metrics mean anything in isolation. A high revenue number next to a low review count and a recent launch date is a very different story than the same revenue number next to 8,000 reviews and a five-year-old listing. Read the row, not the column.
Advertising Tips Using the Helium 10 Chrome Extension
Once a product clears DOPE and you’re live on Amazon, the extension keeps earning its keep — this time on the advertising side. Two tactics we use on almost every account:
1. Find High-Converting Child ASINs to Target
Check your search term report and find any ASINs that are converting well. Use the Helium 10 Chrome Extension to extract the other child variations of that competitor — those will likely convert just as well. They represent a high CVR, low ACoS targeting opportunity that most sellers miss because they only target one competitor child ASIN.
2. Filter via Amazon Filters Before Using X-Ray
Amazon price filters are handy before using Helium 10 X-Ray. The reason being is Helium 10 will only give you the top 60–90 fetched results. By using Amazon’s pricing or rating filter first, you get to find competitors you wouldn’t have found otherwise.
From there, apply further X-Ray filters to narrow results by rating, revenue generated, and fulfillment type for maximum advertising success.
Why This Matters
- Most wasted ad spend in the first 90 days of a launch comes from targeting the wrong keywords, audience or ASINs.
- Amazon filtering helps you find low hanging fruit opportunities.
Endgültiges Urteil
The Helium 10 Chrome Extension remains the fastest way to validate a product idea without leaving Amazon’s own search results.
Layered with the DOPE framework, it turns a pile of raw X-Ray columns into an actual go/no-go decision in minutes rather than hours.
The free tier is genuinely usable for early-stage research — not just a teaser to push you into a paid plan.
FAQ — Helium 10 Chrome Extension Questions
Is the Helium 10 Chrome Extension free?
Yes — the extension itself is free to install, and a free Helium 10 account includes a limited number of daily X-Ray pulls. Heavier research volume requires a paid plan.
How accurate are Helium 10’s sales estimates?
Helium 10 sales estimates are based on BSR (Best Seller Rank). Quite accurate as an estimate compared to other tools, yet it’s certainly not the exact figure — that’s confidential per each seller or vendor.
Do I need Black Box and Cerebro too, or is the extension enough?
Helium 10 Chrome Extension will be the foundation and most accessible tool. As for Cerebro, it’ll be for keyword research and assessing demand. For Black Box, it’ll be the engine to find more competitors and product opportunities.
What is the DOPE framework?
DOPE stands for Demand, Offer, Profit, and Enhance — the framework we follow and recommend to Amazon sellers before launching a product. To explore DOPE in detail, check out our free book TACoS über ACoS – Ihre Roadmap zur Amazon Advertising Strategie.
Can I use the extension on marketplaces outside the US?
Yes, Helium 10’s extension works across supported international Amazon marketplaces, though data depth can vary by region.
